If you are re-modeling an older home you better get it checked for asbestos and hold on to your wallet because this gets really expensive to have it removed by a bunch of guy’s in full has mat suits I think it’s a million dollars an hour (just kidding). Depending on the situation it could cost a great deal.  But in all fairness to the people who do it for a living, asbestos is dangerous and bad for the environment as well. But it can get nuts in costs. One more thing:

I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TRY TO REMOVE IT YOURSELF.  PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE TELLING YOU TO REMOVE IT BY SPRAYING WATER OR SOME OTHER CRAZY IDEA. JUST LEAVE IT TO THE PROFESSIONALS EVEN IF IT COSTS A LOT.

Fire sprinklers
Some cities and counties require that you have fire sprinklers.  I actually like this and think it is a good idea.  Residential systems are different than commercial ones.  It is not like you see on TV the entire system goes off soaking down the entire building.  A residential system goes off in the area that is on fire only.  This can save your belonging not to mention your life.
